Cows Milk Allergy
HOW do you know if you, your son or your daughter, suffers from Cow's Milk Allergy? Do you, or they, have enhanced bowel sounds, abdominal bloating, wind, nausea, watery diarrhea and abdominal cramps (colic in babies) after taking cow's milk or milk-containing foods? Then you may have Cow's Milk Allergy!
Gaseous, acidic stools may also occur, particularly in children. Do you suffer from Mouth ulcers, without any other symptoms? This is not uncommon in some young people with Milk Allergy. It is very distressing for mothers to have a colicky baby reacting to Cow's milk, crying all through the night, particularly if mum has to work the next day! How often, as doctors, have we seen that. Do you know that while the allergy may be inherited, there are a number of non-inherited causes of allergy to Cow's milk. There are also number of diagnostic tests that can be performed. Mind you, crying babies can have colic for a number of other reasons.
This practical information is made available by the Allergy Centre. An Allergist can tell you if you are dealing with Milk Allergy, what it is, why you have it, how you can be tested for it, what you can do about it, the best treatment, whether you should be desensitised, the best medication to use, the best place to seek treatment and whether you can get a cure for Milk Allergy.
