Angioedema
ANGIOEDEMA, also known as Angioneurotic Oedema (Edema) is a severe form of Urticaria. Do you suffer from an allergy and also have soft swelling of the loose tissue under the skin on the back of the feet or hands, the lips, eyelids or in the mouth and the upper airway? Then you may have Angioedema.
Do you know that Angioedema can be caused by many factors such as drug allergy, food intolerance or additives, bacterial infections, viral infections or such things as clothing (laundry detergents, fabric finishers, synthetic fabrics, wool oils etc.), toiletries such as soaps, detergents, cosmetics and hair products etc. and skin exposed to allergens such as plants and chemical vapors. If severe, it can be a life-threatening condition that requires immediate medical attention, because it may presage anaphylaxis (collapse).
This practical information is made available by the Allergy Centre. An Allergist can tell you if you have Angioedema, what it is, why you have it, how you can be tested for it, what you can do about it, the best treatment, whether you should be desensitised or vaccinated, the best medication to use, the best place to seek treatment and whether you can get a cure for Angioedema.
