Irritable Bowel Syndrome
DO you suffer from occasional or frequent abdominal pain or discomfort, bloating, loose or more frequent bowel movements, diarrhoea, and/or constipation? Then you may be suffering from what doctors call Irritable Bowel Syndrome or IBS for short.
Do you know that an Irritable Bowel can cause abdominal cramps as well as bloating? Do you know that the bowel can become sensitised to certain foods or drink, medications and even exercise. Do you find that foods such as milk products, alcohol, coffee, fatty foods, chocolate or fizzy drinks may upset your bowel? Food additivies such as artificial preservatives, flavourings and colourings adversely affect many children and some adults.
Large meals may also bring on symptoms. You may also get mucous in your stools.
Our sympathetic doctors look forward to helping you. They may do medical tests to exclude other diseases that can cause your symptoms or test you for reactions to certain allergens (allergy tests). You may request allergy tests. Priority is given to what might be triggering your Irritable bowel.
This practical information is made available by the Allergy Centre. We can tell you if you may have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, what it is, why you may have it, whether you are suffering from allergies, how you can be tested for it, what you can do about it, the best treatment to use for your irritable bowel.
